Would either of the two of you reading this have the time and inclination to beta some RBF pieces for me? (It should go without saying, but just in case: "Nope" is more than fine! We are all busy people with already overfull plates.)

The people on RBF are lovely and very complimentary, but I'd really like to know what needs improvement.

I'd be happy to repay in kind, or provide something else of your choosing. I knit, draw a bit, and make beaded flowers.

Late reply? I usually don't hop on DW until the evening, so by my metric you're well ahead of schedule. Speaking of: you are fast! I took a peek at the doc and saw you'd started already. Thank you!

I don't have any specific deadline, and you're a) very busy, plus b) doing me a favor. Whenever you get around to it would be great. Please don't hesitate to really tear things apart, either. Some of the attendings still think "you don't deserve to be at this school" counts as concrit, so I promise I can take a bit of criticism.

I think you can see me when I'm on the Gdoc? A handle of some sort should be there somewhere. Either a PM, email, or chat function of one stripe or another would be great.

Finally: Hmm, I'm fine with Chel for a moniker. "Ch" as in the English "chat". Though that brings to mind a question of my own for your podcast - what's the origin of your own handle(s)?

Yeah, I've just about finished! I have to admit I can't really find anything wrong; I'm still in awe of your metaphor and imagery. The only thing I can think of right now is possibly an age range for Dor? Unless she's to be very young and very precocious, which was the idea I had when I read her on LJ...

Oh, yeah, I noticed. I shot you an email when I saw the doc (which, again, was right after I asked). Basically, I'm a bit oversensitive and only want to open the floor to certain people. (There was a bit of an...event on RaTs that I'd rather not have happen again, even if it did get smoothed out privately).

Hey, popping in quickly to check: Am I good to post Bitterdin after I incorporate your edits, or did you want more time/have more to say? I'm honestly not certain what the normal process is for betaing, since this whole "writing on the internet in a community" is new and strange (and fun.)

Also, you are absolutely right on 1) establishing an age for Dor and 2) letting people know what nibnails are made of beyond "not metal, apparently," but if it's okay with you, I might save that for another piece? 1) because it's a bit tricky to have Dor considering her own age in this particular situation, and 2) is supposed to be in-story something she'd notice in passing, and meta-story to establish that nibnails are things inklings have, and they aren't metal, though you're not supposed to know why yet. I don't want you to think I'm ignoring problems you were kind enough to point out! If these are issues you think'll be too confusing for people reading, please let me know, and I'll fix them for real instead of giving you long-winded excuses. (Bitterdin gets his verbosity from somewhere.)

Yup, you're good! The only thing I had was the comment I added about Dor and the nibnails (which is totally OK for another piece, and your reasons are actually things I never considered! That's something to keep in mind when I write in the future!).

And to be honest, those were nitpicks, anyway--it's terrific as is.

Also, I don't think there's really a set process for betaing? I usually just incorporate whatever edits are there and consider it fit for human consumption, on my end, either via chat or through email.
